Hello Tiger families and Sponsors!
Welcome to Round 1 of the season! It’s been an exciting start, and we’ve had plenty of action across the club. From celebrations to hard-fought matches, we are proud of every Tiger who took to the field Here’s a recap of what’s been happening, with a special thanks to all our families and sponsors for their support.
U8 & U9 – Crib Point Carnival
Our youngest Tigers traveled to Crib Point for their first big event of the season. While results weren’t kept, the day was filled with fun, learning, and plenty of smiles. These players may be just starting their football journey, but their energy and enthusiasm were absolutely contagious. Keep it up, little champs!
U16 – ANZAC Day Ceremony & Match
Our U16s had a truly special experience on ANZAC Day, participating in the ceremony to honor our service members. Their display of respect and spirit was a proud moment for the club. On the field, they faced a tough challenge against Officer. Though the result didn’t go their way, the team gave it their all and showed fantastic resolve throughout the game. They put in a valiant effort against Officer but were ultimately defeated 99-22. Despite the result, the Tigers gave it their all, with players showing great resilience and determination. There’s a lot of heart in this team, and we look forward to seeing them bounce back stronger next time!
U12 Girls – First Game Together
The U12 girls played their first ever match as a team and represented the club with heart. They faced Crib Point in a tough contest and, while the scoreboard didn’t reflect their effort, the girls played with great determination and showed their true potential. We’re excited to see this team grow together over the season!
U10 – Two Tough Contests
Our U10 teams were back on the field for two competitive games. While no scores were kept, it was clear both teams gave everything they had. These players are developing their skills and teamwork, and it won’t be long before they’re taking on tougher opponents with even more confidence.
U11 Black – Fighting Spirit Against Dromana
In a challenging encounter, our U11 Black team faced off against Dromana. Although they were defeated, the Tigers played with spirit and determination. The effort was there from start to finish, and the players kept their heads high, learning from every moment. This team’s growth is sure to be exciting to watch!
U11 Yellow – Narrow Loss to Rye
Our U11 Yellow team gave it their all against Rye in a close battle. They fought hard throughout the game, but Rye edged out a narrow win. There were plenty of positives to take away, and we know this team will only continue to improve with each game. Keep up the great work, U11 Yellow!
U12 – Dominant Victory Over Rye
After unfurling their 2024 Premiership Flag, The U12s came out strong and showed what they’re capable of with a dominant 70-41 win over Rye. From the first whistle, it was clear the Tigers were on top. Their teamwork, ball movement, and overall intensity were key to the victory. A fantastic way to start the season – well done, U12s!
U13 – Impressive Win Against Mt Eliza Blue
The U13s delivered an outstanding performance, defeating Mt Eliza Blue 73-20. The team worked brilliantly together, with solid defense and excellent attacking play. This was a comprehensive win that highlights the talent and cohesion of this group. The Tigers are off to a flying start!
U14 – Thrilling Win Over Mornington
The second of the SMJFC teams to unfurl a premiership flag in round 1, In a nail-biting match, our U14 team fought tooth and nail to defeat Mornington 55-48. The game was close throughout, but the Tigers held their composure under pressure, showing maturity and grit. A well-earned victory and a great sign of things to come!
U15 – Dominant Display Against Seaford
The U15s absolutely dominated their match against Seaford, finishing with a commanding 129-28 victory. The team played with intensity, showing a level of skill and teamwork that was impressive from start to finish. This was a brilliant way to kick off the season, and the players should be proud of their efforts!
U17 – Strong Effort Against EDI-ASP Eagles
In their first game of the season, the U17 team faced a tough challenge against the EDI-ASP Eagles. While they were defeated 89-18, the Tigers showed moments of brilliance, and their hard work on the field was evident. With plenty of time to improve, we’re confident this group will grow stronger as the season progresses.
Overall, it’s been a fantastic Round 1, full of learning and growth for all our Tigers. Every player is making strides and contributing to our club’s positive spirit. A huge thank you to our sponsors for their continued support – your contributions make all these experiences possible.
We look forward to the U10 girls kicking off their season this week after a bye for ANZAC day on Friday, so let’s keep this momentum going as we look ahead to Round 2!
